He moved to New York after graduating and pursued a career in Commercial design throughout the 1950s and became one of the most successful illustrators of his time. Warhol's Campbells lauched him to a celebrity level in 1962 and helped him trasition his ceareer into the fine arts world.
Construction & Interest
To make this piece, I used a slab and slump mold; it started out really well with a smooth shape and nice top until I could not get the slump mold out. When I did try and take it out the top of the can came out with it. After I reconstructed the top, I carved the lettering on top into it and used stamped for the lower lettering. After I finished with glazing. I was interested in the piece because I remember having seen Andy Warhol's work when I was younger and mainly seeing his pop art. I also really like his work with basic shapes and colors, and I thought it would be really cool to recreate it 3D and make it come to life even more.
Reflection
I like this piece, but I still think I could have done better. It went well until the top came off with the slump mold. I rushed the glazing as well, and I think if I had more time, I could have found a better way to glaze the lettering because it got very messy around the edges and was hard to get into the gloves of the lettering, although I do really like the look of carving the letters.
